When it fits

Four situations where augmentation beats hiring.

If none of these describe you, a permanent hire is probably the better answer, and we will say so on the call rather than sell you a seat.

  • A deadline arrived early

A launch date moved and your team is two engineers short of hitting it. You need hands now, not a hiring pipeline.

    Start in 1–2 weeks

  • One skill you do not have

The roadmap needs Flutter, or a Laravel refactor, or someone who has actually run a migration. Hiring for one project rarely makes sense.

    Single-skill hire

  • Cover for a gap

Parental leave, a resignation, a long notice period. Keep the roadmap moving without a panic hire you regret in six months.

    3–9 month cover

  • Proving a role is permanent

You suspect you need a full-time mobile engineer but are not certain yet. Rent before you buy.

How it works

You direct the work. We carry the overhead.

The split is deliberately simple: everything about the product is yours, everything about employment is ours.

  • You manage them

Your sprints, your priorities, your definition of done. Our engineer takes direction from your lead, not from us.

    Your process

  • We handle the employment

Payroll, equipment, leave cover, HR and the office they sit in. One monthly invoice, nothing else to administer.

    One invoice

  • Replace or scale in two weeks

Wrong fit or changed need: two weeks notice to swap a role, thirty days to end it. No renegotiation.

    2 weeks to swap

  • Convert to your payroll

If the role turns out to be permanent, you can hire them directly after twelve months with no conversion fee.

    No buyout fee

Augmentation or a pod

Which of the two you actually need.

Both cost roughly the same per engineer. The question is whether you need capacity or capacity plus a process, and whether you would rather have named engineers inside your own team or a standing team on your board running its own delivery.

  • Who sets the priorities

Usual: You do, sprint by sprint. With QalbIT: We do, against the agreed scope.

  • Who manages the work

Usual: Your lead or PM. With QalbIT: Our tech lead.

  • What you get

Usual: Individual engineers. With QalbIT: A complete delivery team.

  • Best when

Usual: You have a process and need capacity. With QalbIT: You need the process too.

  • Minimum size

Usual: One engineer. With QalbIT: Two engineers.

  • QA included

Usual: Optional, add a QA engineer. With QalbIT: Built into the pod.

How it starts

Four steps, about two weeks.

No onboarding programme you pay for and no ramp-up invoice. The first ticket is real work in your repository.

  1. Send the role

Stack, seniority, how long, and what they will be working on. Ten minutes to write.

    Day 1

  2. Profiles in 48 hours

Two or three engineers with real project history and current availability.

    48 hours

  3. You interview

Technical conversation on your terms. Reject as many as you like: there is no pressure to take the first.

    Week 1

  4. Paid trial sprint

Two weeks on a real ticket in your repo. Wrong fit, you stop and pay only for that sprint.

FAQs · staff augmentation

Staff augmentation: frequently asked questions

Team size, working hours, conversion to permanent, and what happens if the fit is wrong.

Ask us directly →
Augmentation gives you engineers who take direction from your lead. A dedicated pod comes with its own tech lead who owns delivery. If you already have a process, augmentation is cheaper and simpler.
Yes. Augmentation has no minimum team size: one engineer for three months is a perfectly normal engagement.
They work a shifted day to overlap with yours. Most clients get four to six live hours daily; full overlap is available at a premium for time-critical work.
The first two weeks are a paid trial on a real ticket. If it is not working you stop there, and any replacement is at no extra cost.
Yes. After twelve months you can take them onto your payroll with no conversion fee. Before twelve months there is a pro-rated fee we will state up front.
We do: company-managed, encrypted machines and all standard tooling. You provide access to your own systems and licences.
One to two weeks from the first call for common stacks. Rarer skills can take three to four while we shortlist properly rather than filling the seat.
