A first workload typically moves in 6 to 8 weeks, staged through a staging environment before any production traffic is cut over. A fuller migration with several coupled services runs 10 to 14 weeks, moved in verified slices rather than a single cutover weekend.
Whichever fits where your team already has skills, where your compliance requirements point, and what the rest of your stack already talks to, more than which provider has the better keynote. We name the provider and the reasoning in the written scope rather than defaulting to the one we prefer to build on.
Workloads move in slices, each one run in parallel with the existing environment and verified before traffic is cut over, with a rollback plan written down for each step before it starts, not improvised if something goes wrong.
Yes, and it is a common starting point on its own. A cost breakdown by service usually finds the actual driver, an oversized instance, storage nobody is using, a service left running from a finished project, before any migration or rebuild is even on the table.
Both, unless you tell us otherwise. Moving servers without version-controlled configuration and a pipeline just relocates the same manual risk to new infrastructure. Your environment gets defined in reviewable configuration and every deploy goes through the same tested pipeline, not through whoever is awake on a Friday.
Each phase has a rollback plan written before it starts, agreed as part of the scope rather than worked out under pressure. If a step does not verify cleanly, traffic stays on the existing environment until it does.
The infrastructure lives in your AWS, Azure or Google Cloud account from the start, under NDA, with access granted to you from week one. Nothing is provisioned under an account we control that would block you from removing our access later.
Data residency, e-invoicing mandates and industry-specific requirements are scoped explicitly against the target architecture before migration starts, since a region or service choice made without them usually has to be redone later.
Most clients keep a small standing team for monitoring, cost optimisation and the next workload, with uptime targets and alerting live from the first cutover.
